It’s time for the AGM and we would love for you to attend!
The Friends of Temagami invite you to join us for the 2023 Annual General Meeting on Saturday, October 14th @ 0900. We are extremely pleased to continue with an in-person AGM this year. A hybrid option of remote attendance available to those who are unable to join us in person. Remote access details will be provided closer to the date.
Friends of Temagami Board of Directors - Nominations and Elections
The FOT BOD has a total of 14 Director positions available, with 13 Director positions filled at this time. There will be one vacant Director position as a result of a recent resignation. There will be one Director up for re-election this year. Directors are elected for a four (4) year term.
The BOD elections will be held first thing in the morning on Saturday. Nominations are to be seconded and the nominee is required to be present to accept. If there are more nominations received than positions open, there will be an election process by vote. Any FOT member in good standing can nominate any other FOT member in good standing for a Director position. Executive positions within the BOD are elected annually by other members of the BOD.
Proxy Voting
If you are unable to attend in person or remote access, you may still provide a vote by proxy. As a member in good standing, you have the option of assigning your proxy vote to another member in good standing. In the coming weeks we will send out a list of Directors who will be present at this year’s meeting along with a proxy form. Simply follow the directions in the email to assign your proxy vote to the member or Director of your choosing. You may also choose to give your proxy vote to another general member in good standing. We do have a requirement to meet quorum, equal to ⅕ of the FOT membership, for the AGM to proceed; therefore, your proxy vote is most important to us.
Your membership and support is important to us. If your membership is expired or coming due prior to the AGM, please ensure to renew in order to remain in good standing and have your vote count.
Accommodations
The event will be held at Smoothwater Outfitters & Lodge and everyone is welcome to attend.
Indoor accommodations are available and those interested in booking a room can contact Smoothwater directly. Space is limited so please ensure to book as soon as possible. Smoothwater does also offer outdoor camping for a nominal fee. We suggest staying both the Friday and Saturday nights.
Morning and evening meals will be offered through Smoothwater for an additional cost. Please inform Smoothwater of your intention to participate in meals when you book your accommodations. Lunch on Saturday will be provided by the FOT BOD.

Guest Speaker & Entertainment
On Saturday afternoon, we are very pleased to announce that Mary Laronde will be joining us again this year as guest speaker. Mary Laronde is an Anishnaabe (Ojibway/ Algonquin) Elder from Temagami. On Saturday evening we are excited to welcome the wonderful entertainer John Wayne Potts as our musical guest! After the organized entertainment, anyone attending in person who would like to bring an instrument and their musical talent are welcome to take part in the FOT song circle.
